Black Kettle @ Georgetown, Penang

Okay so I've been wanting to come here since my last visit in Penang, and the tummy was already filled with lots of food cause we hop 3 cafes before coming to this one with no break in between, and yet here we were, walking through the door trying to fit in whatever food we can order.

Inside, this big Bakery sign made a huge statement and as you can see, there are a lot of pastries.

And more cakes too!

They have quite a few insta worthy spots for you to take but unless you got a less crowd only you'll manage to get a picture without other people in it.

Black Kettle MENU

French Onion Soup - RM 18.00
Caramelized Onions, Browned Chicken Stock, Torched Cheesy Bread Slice.
It's a little bit salty, but I love the cheese in it and the bread too!

 Tarragon Chicken - RM 25.00
Creamy White Sauce, Button Mushrooms, Tarragon Herbs, Steamed Potato Mashed
This we ordered cause it looks so different but it was not up to what we expected haha.
Potato was great though, but the creamy sauce was not flavourful enough.

Salted Egg Yolk Squid Pasta - RM 28.00
Salted Egg Yolk Sauce, Curry Leaves and Cili Padi, Spaghetti, Crunchy Spiced Squid.
This however, is the best among all of it. I love how crunchy the squid is and how thick is the salt egg yolk sauce. This is the best salted egg yolk spaghetti I ever had.

An Overview.

I wanted to try something light cause the stomach was so full, but sadly they didn't have Sea Bass or the Mahi Mahi I wanted. Was a bit disappointed la cause they looked like a restaurant/cafe that has it all. But then again, there were quite a lot of food items on their menu. But the Salted Egg Yolk Pasta is really the bomb!

Gao Enough @ Georgetown, Penang

So I saw one of the Facebook post about this place. It used to be Gao x Ludwig, Ludwig as is their own softserve brand and now its no longer affiliate with the milk tea brand. But fear not! There's still ice cream but probably their own brand la. But hey, give me them diabetes. *laughs*

It's really small inside, so it's best to have it while walking around Georgetown.
Just go counter buy and cabut.

Gao Enough MENU
If you look at it properly, the names of the milk tea is a bit "hamsup".

Dreamy Creamy (Hidden Gem) - RM 15.00
So this is not in the Menu, it's THE hidden item.
It's the one where Facebook got quite viral about, the milk tea and the ice cream together.
You can just order from the counter regarding the hidden gem.
The Ice cream flavour I had was Sea Salt, it was quite good, and after you finish it, give back the bottle to the counter and they will seal your drink and you can goyang goyang it.
There were 3 kinds of pearls in it, I really like the Diamond pearls, you get to chew something but its not that tough. Oh and it's milk if you're wondering, so basically milk with ice cream and bobas.

Humsup Milk Tea (Large) - RM 11.90
So, this is their famous drink, very humsup indeed.
It taste quite salty if you ask me. So maybe that's why they call it humsup?

TVB Taro Vanilla Banana (Large) - RM 11.90
This Yam flavour is so strong but you still can taste a little bit of banana somewhere haha.
It's quite an exciting flavour but it got a bit too much when we finish it. So probably a regular would be enough.

Overall, it's a small place. So probably best if you order a takeaway.
The hidden gem drink was just a so-so for me. It did light my eyes up with the ice cream on top but flavour was just okay la. It wasn't very Gao for me la haha.
They got quite a lot on their menu items but I think I've drank enough boba for a lifetime.

Narrow Marrow @ Georgetown, Penang

So it's consider one of the hidden cafes, cause when we walk pass we seriously didn't notice it at all!
One of the unique things I've heard about this place, is that its an alley and they just transform it into a cafe! How neat is that?

As you can see for yourself, it's only a lorong wide.

And boy, do they have a lot of cakes!

Narrow Marrow MENU

Mango Smoothie - RM 14.00
Fresh mangoes and its so thick. You can feel it that they were generous with the mangoes.

Dirty Bourbon Tiramisu - RM 18.00
I honestly have never really tried a tiramisu as good as my mom's.
Even Chinahouse tiramisu sucks for me.
But this though, is a whole different level. I can see why they have so many cakes now.
It's sooooooo good.

Mix Mushrooms Grilled Cheese - RM 24.00
Their grilled cheese are from their lunch menu which starts from 10.00am - 2.30pm. And when we ordered it was 2.25pm HAH! Thankfully they were really nice to let me order and boy! Was glad I did not miss out! I love the grilled cheese! It's like what you watch on masterchef and tv and stuff, it looks so good and its just so tasty. The flavour is there.
Roasted Tomato Soup was good too! Salad dressing give give a little more if possible.

An Overview.

I'm happy to say I'll be coming back for the tiramisu and grilled cheese!
I love it and till now it lingers in my memory of how good it tasted.

Oh and they have some cool stuffs for you to play if you look around.
Apparently not a lot of people know how to play congkak to my surprise.
