Morel @ Ipoh Soho

Heading to a restaurant where my ex colleague recommended as she is also a foodie, who floods her facebook with drooling food pictures.

Inside is pretty wide and chic design. Comfortable for many pax too.

I really enjoy how they cozy up the corners.

Morel MENU.
So on their menu, heaven I would say.
I really wanted to order EVERYTHING but my stomach can only handle so much.
Dilemma dilemma.

Their set menu is really worth it.
They do have a set lunch menu as well, so you can take a look when you are there for lunch time. But its a bit insane to find parking during lunch hours in Soho la to be honest.

Peach - RM 5.90 (Individual), Free (Set)
Some peach teas are quite bland, but this you can taste the essence of the peach with a hint of tea leaves in it.

Honey Lemon - RM 9.90 (Individual), Free (Set)
Don't think you can ever go wrong with Honey Lemon, refreshing as always.

Mango Passion Fruit Smoothie - RM 10.90
Mango and Passion Fruit Puree enriched with Yogurt.
Had a brain freeze once I had a big sip through the huge straw. But it is really really good.
Very yummy, mango taste with passion fruit that blends well together.

Soup of the Day - Tomato Soup (Set)
The soup itself does help in getting your appetite ready for main course.
Not too sour or strong in coriander smell.

 Cacciucco - RM 49.90
Tuscan Seafood stewed with Baby Lobster, Mussel, Prawn, Fish, Clam, Squid, Scallop, Crab Claw and Red Wine, Served with Bread.
This is so worth it for two people to share. It was so much that my friend ordered all by herself and asked the other two of us to finish the rest. Worth every penny.
If you notice the Chili, it does bring a bit of kick and heat to it but wasn't super spicy that you couldn't bear.

Mushroom Risotto (with Morel Mushroom) - RM 32.90 (Individual), RM 37.90 (Set)
Italian Rice cooked with Cream and Parmesan Cheese with Mushrooms.
Man, I regretted not ordering this. My friend ordered it and I thought of ordering something else.
Shrooms and Risotto, my favourite combination. It seem like a small portion but its definitely filling.
Creamy with parmesan cheese on it.

 Aglio Olio - RM 19.90
Spaghetti Pasta Sauteed with Smoked Duck Breast, Aglio Olio style with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Smoked Egg Yolk Bottarga.
I would say, this one isn't too bad at all.
The smoked duck is perfecto. Very very tender.
Spaghetti wasn't drench in olive oil like some other restaurants.

Warm Chocolate Lava Cake - RM 18.90
Rich Chocolate Cake with Molten center, served with Gelato Vanilla Ice Cream.
Man, this was the bomb.
Rich in chocolate, although the chocolate wasn't melted enough but the taste is good!

Single Scoop Ice Cream - Free (Set)
Choice of Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry.
With the sets, you get a free scoop of ice cream. I felt like a kid again.
Refreshing dessert at the end of the meal.

An Overview.

It is much more on the pricier side but what they deliver is not what any other restaurant would.
Exquisite taste and fresh seafood, the way it was cooked and delivered was definitely worth the price.
Won't be able to go often but once in a while with extra cash in my pocket, why not?
A definite must to go place.

Ticklish Ribs and Wiches @ The Gardens, Midvalley

While walking around Midvalley and The Gardens, we got really hungry and searched online actually on what's new here and something we can try on.
Since we don't come to KL as often as before, we really need to know what restaurants or cafes are on trend.
So we saw this place, Ticklish, was thinking to myself, what an odd name to name a restaurant but they serve pork ribs so why not just give it a shot.

They will seat you once you go to their podium, and the place is created to look fun actually.

This whole wall is covered in cartoon pigs with funny speeches that we Malaysians always say.

This is only for those who wants to have parties.

The place looks really well decorated and gives its own cartoon with a bit of edge kinda theme.

Yea well, I'm not sure if I can wallop ribs in a minute.
I would rather enjoy the moment savoring every bite of it.

So MENU is here!
Took all the shots so you all can get a full view here.

Silly Soursop - RM 9
Taste exactly like one and even have the flesh of the fruit in it.

Hamsup Wok Fried Pasta - RM 20.00
Rich Cantonese salted egg sauce stir-fried into the noodles then capped with slices of tender breaded pork chops.
To me, when the dish came, WOW, I can smell it.
BUT sadly, it didn't taste as good as it smells.
The sauce was not thick enough to be able to cover the whole plate of pasta.
Hence, the taste was not gao enough.

The Ultimate Tickle, Not Really Platter - RM 36
This is their signature BBQ ribs, with the not really platter, you'll have 4 pieces with sides of a mashed potato and salad.
At first it tasted sweet then it got really salty.
But then, it does taste really good.
The mashed potato was a bomb though.

Lazy Bones Curry Pork Lard Rice - RM 30
Boneless local rib meat with a curry kick to it. Served with Pork lard rice and dash of sambal, with sunny side up and crumbs of pork fat.
To me it tasted like the Nasi Lemak Kapitan I had somewhere.
I didn't really like it because it wasn't like the curry kinda curry. So yea.

An Overview.

Overall, it's okay.
We went about 3pm and there was really no one.
A couple was about to leave when we got there.
Probably they have more customers at night.
Food was just so-so. I expected more.

If you are a Gardens Mall card member, buy a bucket of ribs and get your rice meal for free!

Choo Choo Chicken @ Greentown, Ipoh

After a longgggggg wait, we finally get to try this latest hype up place in Ipoh.
Wanted to go for a long time but it's always pack full of people.

Inside, all pack as usual.
My poor friend, Angie, had to wait for 45 minutes to just get a table for us.
We were on the way so yea.

Inside its modern meet bricks hah.
It was really noisy.
Felt like I didn't leave the classroom at all.

So if any of you would like to go, please go as early as possible.
Before 7pm to just get a table.

Menu!!!!
They have 6 flavours and they are crispy (no flavour), Soy, Sweet Soy, Sweet, Spicy, and Garlic.

I think price wise, it's still not so bad.
Still affordable for Korean Fried Chicken.

Barley Tea (Refillable) - RM 1.90
The usual, but this one doesn't taste that bitter.
Think it was sort of watery.

Green Tea - RM 3.00
This had no taste of green tea whatsoever.
Don't know what kind green tea pack they serve.

Kimchi Ramen - RM 13.90
The ramen tasted delicious but not so much on the soup.
The tofu was nasty though.
They came with a side of 4 pieces of chicken which the flavour you can choose.
I choose Sweet and it tasted quite alright.

Choo Choo Wraps - RM 9.90
The chicken fillet in the wrap can be also chosen with 1 of the 6 different flavours, and it also comes with a side of wedges.

Spicy Ramen - RM 13.90
This is the Samyang Noodle alright.
For me, I can't take it because my tolerance on spicy food is near to zero.
Okay not that bad la, I'm still working on my spicy palette.
But for those who LOVES spicy food, try this ramen instead.

If you think this is Sup Sup Water, then please do try the Samyang Noodle Spicy x2!
My friend Angie tried and oh boy. Just watch till the end alright.

Still wanna try? Up for the game?

Rose Chicken - RM 41.90
This is so expensive honestly.
It comes with 12 pieces of crispy chicken and in the middle, a round shaped bread with cheese cream sauce in the middle.
Looks like macam yes kan?

This is the face we made after trying out the chicken with the cheese cream sauce.
It tasted, weird.
Apparently, the staff told us it was mushroom and cheese, we did not taste any mushroom in it alright.
We thought well, cheese, should be milky, stringy and delicious.
But this was just, watery, bland, and it was just weird.
NOT WORTH IT.
Don't be con by the pictures in the menu. Lol.

An Overview.

Korean Fried Chicken has been a big hype in Malaysia, whichever state it is.
Choo Choo has its big name in KL but hmm, not what I expected.
I expected with more Wow, more Kick, but the food just spell boring on it.

Was it worth to queue up 45 minutes long?
Definitely NOT.
Food was slow, queue was too long, too noisy, I can just go on and on and on.
Chicken was not up to my expectation and its just wasn't good for me.
