So this cafe has been on my mind everytime I pass by, but since I live in Bercham area, it's always difficult or too far for me to go out just for dinner all the way to town.

     

Inside the cafe, it flooded with our parents or grandparents' memories around.

They even appeared on numerous newspaper.

     

I could say they are heavily decorated with items we don't really see around anymore. So it's good to see that brings back fond memories.

It's pretty simple.

It's either western or local food.

Honeydew Juice - RM 3.70

So most of their juices are fresh. 

I got to say this honeydew juice is really good!

It's fresh and they didn't put too much sugar in it.

Ambra Asam - RM 4.50

Refreshing.

Not diluted so definitely can give it a go.

Spaghetti Carbonara - RM 8.50 

Was a bit disappointed with this because it was tasteless.

No seasoning and the sauce was diluted and it wasn't enough for the pasta.

So don't order this.

Cheesy Wedges - RM 7.00 

Not as good as KFC because it was a bit oily.

But its okay la, the portion is quite big also.

Lamb Chop - RM 14.80 

Lamb chop was pretty good, but the brown sauce was a bit spicy.

First time I had brown sauce that taste a bit spicy haha.

Lamb was cooked alright. Not too expensive either.

An Overview.

Heard their porridge is quite good and so are some of their local food.

It's pretty budget friendly to have nice meal out.

Atmosphere is quite nice.

Very spacious outside and cooling too.

It's good to give it a try at this cafe.

So when in Penang, other than the local food, they have tons of Cafes as well!!!

So when this first opened back then, it has been on my bucket cafe list to go to already.

     

So its the same row as Awesome Canteen, and its located on the firs floor of a shop lot building. So just keep your eyes out for the signboard.

Once you reach up the stairs, you'll see this and just turn to your right.

    

    

So inside, its all very BLUE. Nothing is made out of ice if you were wondering. A lot of props here and there that made it look like you are in an igloo.

So there are actually a lot of seats inside and its pretty long in. I was actually wow-ing my way inside.

     

     

 So there's a lot to see inside, so you can actually pose and take pictures anywhere you like.

So this is the counter which is in the middle of the cafe, you can just take the menus off the counter and decide what dessert you shall have, and order back at the counter.

They too, also sell cakes!

     

Of course the blog post would be incomplete without showing you guys the MENUS!

It's basically ice ice and more ice. Those who are not too keen on cold, bring your jacket along yea.

     

     

     

Ice Cream in a Jar (Strawberry Flavour) - RM 15

They have many different ice cream flavours for you to choose from their menu. 

It had quite a lot of fruits in the jar. Banana, some cube jellies, pineapples, etc.

We were pretty full from a late lunch and so we only had one dessert.

Overall, I think for a hot season, this is the place to be. 

It's cooling, the desserts are cooling as well.

Everything is more than RM10 so for an everyday dessert, no-no.

But for once in a while, good to go.

So in December, near to Christmas, my uni housemate friend got married in Penang! So with this opportunity, we of course stayed back a bit longer to hop around some cafes in Penang.

So we googled as usual, to see what cafes are best to hop into. Chinahouse was overrated to me and been there before so, no Chinahouse lah okay.

And so we ventured upon Awesome Canteen! Which I didn't know they have one in KL also.

It was pretty difficult to spot it because the trees sort of covered up the entrance. We walked back and forth then only saw it heh. So it's actually opposite of the end of Chinahouse.

     

So inside is very, how to say, a mix of retro malaysian memories and a twist of modern together.

Because you'll see wooden and metal things are mix together that gives that kinda vibe.

 So once you go in, this will be another entrance to the sitting area.

 And on your right, you'll see some postcard or photobook about Penang that are for sale.

And on your left, you'll see the bar where they make your drinks.

After the entrance, the cashier booth will be on your left and a full display of awesome CAKES!

They  also have a condement BAR, where you just get whatever chili sauce or tomato sauce that you need. Also plain water too! And it's pretty cool you get to see what cakes are available on that day.

So the sitting areas are all very unique and different from each other. All the chairs you see its like bringing back memories of your popo's house eh?

This look pretty unique but ain't sure if comfortable is the word for it.

     

What I love is the nature inside. Pretty cool with these trees in between ehh?

Avocado Banana - RM 15

Its thick for sure. Surprisingly blends well too.

It smells like avocado, but taste more on banana.

Mushroom Swiss Cheese Melt Beef - RM 23.90

You can choose Chicken or Beef patty, price differ, comes with sauteed mushrooms, lettuce, tomato slices, caramelized onions, melted swiss cheese and burger buns. With side spicy fries. 

I think this is a good burger. 

It tasted sweet from the caramelized onions and the mushrooms gave a bit of a kick.

Peanut Butter Chicken - RM 23.90

You can choose Chicken or Beef patty, price differ, lettuce, tomato slices, homemade peanut butter, sharp cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and burger buns, with side spicy fries.

This is one unique burger, I mean come on, Peanut Butter.

Surprisingly, it works but after 5 bites, you'll feel stuffed.

Unless you are a person with a big appetite, you won't be able to finish this.

An Overview.

Overall, the food is quite nice.

Environment is lovely, cozy and nature-ish.

Sad part was, we got there at 3 something, all the food was sold out except the burgers and sides. 

So yea, wanted to try some other stuff :(
