Small Fish Restaurant 小鱼夫 @ Jalan Seenivasagam, Ipoh

So this new restaurant is so hot and popular right now!
Who would've thought to just use fish as main and that's it? So smart!

I loved the interior. Clean, neat and tidy. And bright. Relaxing ambiance to eat in.

Really like their lit up sign boards in the shop. Makes the whole place quite vibrant with their menu colors.

So their rice, you can refill! So those eaters who love rice and can't live without rice can definitely come here and binge on white rice.

小鱼夫 MENU

Pickled Cabbage with Grilled Fish - RM 18.00 (Single Portion)
We add on potatoes and dried bean curd in both so it looks a lot haha.
I personally like this taste. It gives a bit of sour taste from the pickled cabbage and goes really well with the rice. The fish though, so good.

Ma La Grilled Fish - RM 21.00 (Single Portion)
If you can take spicy food then this is the one for you. Their Ma La is really very the "La". No joke, not for the weak hearted lol. Fragrant with spiciness and yet satisfying with burning sensation.

Overall, I would be back for the other 3 taste. Simple menu which gives you less time to think of which you want to eat. Although it looks huge for a single portion but the fish fillet inside is really just enough for one person. Fish is not cheap so I wouldn't really complain much though I feel there should be more fish meat la. Heh. Great place, and very crowded with people around, cause it's good!

草根六两 @ Medan Baru Bandar Ipoh

Alright! Ipoh's new places are really coming up and about!
This was really an eye to lookout once they started renovating cause it seemed like a huge project. We honestly thought it was gonna be another bubble tea joint and thank God it wasn't hah.
But it's a Bak Kut Teh place! How fancy is that?

I really like the interior of it. A design mix of Modern and Traditional together.
Thought it might be weird but it blends very well together surprisingly.

Look at all the delicious kuih kuih. Though it is a bit pricier la.

Modern looking design.

I really like this cozy staircase to the top.

That feel.

I really like this space. At night it's so glowing and so instaworthy.

 草根六两 MENU

Teapot (Big) with 4 cups - RM  9.90
Okay la the teapot quite big sia, we drink few cups till it was so thick at the bottom at the jar.

White Rice - RM 1.90 each

Bak Kut Teh Soup (Small) - RM 21.90
Soup was quite nice actually. It's not a strong herbal taste, butI would say it taste very balanced. The portion of meat given was okay as well.

Oyster Sauce Kailan - RM 9.90
Well, oyster flavour very generous. Not overcooked as well.
Taste great!

Bak Kut Teh Dry (Small) - RM 21.90
Not that spicy so it's great for those who can't take spicy food. Quite delicious honestly. I like this more than the soup one.

Overall, well the price you pay is what you get, good food and lovely ambiance all around.
It is worth it? I guess its okay for once. But to me it is quite overprice but then the surrounding ambiance is why that it's so expensive. Great to go for a new spot though!

Mad Ramen Bar @ Ipoh

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I love myself a good ramen bowl. So when this opened, I can't wait to try! Thanks to Maple who told me haha. Cause I really seldom come to this road cause its such a tourist area, so difficult to drive around and park.

It has that modern japanese vibe.
I love the concert walls and the wallpapers of traditional japanese art.

Green Tea (refillable) - RM 2.50
Not too thick so very soothing to drink.

Green Yokai - RM 12.80
Green Tea, White Grape, Egg White, Lemon
This is SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD.
You can taste the flavour of the white grapes, sweet but not too sweet and the acidic of lemon gives it a kick.

 Takoyaki - RM 7.80

Japanese Octopus ball.
The flavour, there's something missing but I wasn't quite sure what was it.

But worth to order to give it a shot.

Yaki Gyoza - RM 11.80
Pan fried pork and cabbage dumplings with grapefruit ponzu dressing.
Super delicious! the crunch of the outer layer of dumpling and the pork in it is just so good.

Yasai Ramen - RM 15.80
Original tonkotsu pork broth served with ramen, stir fried mixed vegetables, braised egg.
This actually tasted like Fish head noodle soup. Haha. Not bad but all vegetables as mentioned.

Shoyu Ramen - RM 16.80
Shoyu, chicken and vegetable broth served with ramen, pork chasu, braised egg, wakame, bamboo shoots, negi, nori, corn.
This broth is quite nice and the pork is sooooooo good. It's mostly soy sauce based broth so it's a bit more towards to saltiness but not too much.

 Miso Ramen - RM 16.80
Miso, chicken and vegetable broth served with ramen, pork chasu, braised egg, wakame, bamboo shoots, negi, nori, corn, shitake butter.
Miso is something we all have had while having those japanese set lunch/dinner. So yes, it does taste like what you had tasted.

Pork Rib Black Shoyu - RM 21.80
Black shoyu pork broth served with braised pork rib, black fungus, braised egg, spring onions, negi.
This pork broth however, is so fragrant. The pork rib is so delicious, one bite and the meat is off the rib. So so good, wish the rib was more though hah.

White Tonkotsu - RM 17.80
Original tonkotsu pork broth served with ramen, pork chasu, black fungus, mentaiko, red ginger, braised egg, spring onions.
The pork is sooooooo good. Broth is quite nice as well but I would still prefer the brother of the pork rib.

Set Lunch - RM 6.80
Green tea, Edamame, Takoyaki, Fruits.

So they have set lunch that includes these so just top up a small amount to get it. Very very the worth!

Chasu Don - RM 15.80
*9/1/2020 updated*
Pork chasu served with japanese rice, nori, dalkon, braised egg and pork crispies.
Their rice though, cannot. Haha. Their ramen is really the best but their rice is needs a lot of improvement. It was too dry, and flavour isn't there. So just try their ramen okay.

Overall, I love this place!

Already went twice and would love to go again and try all the other ramen flavours.
They also have rice as well, so that's also one thing to look forward too.
